Darkroom Gallery Master

Mark Allen Dierker
Dubuque, Iowa USA
Mark loves exploring light and how it is interpreted by a camera. He began taking photos in the mid-1970's with a fixed lens Yashica camera his father gave him. In college he developed a love for black and white photography and the sweeping landscapes of the American Southwest. Working for newspapers after college helped hone his skills in portraiture and documentary photography. His favorite genres are landscape, portraiture, musical performance and Americana. He is an award winning photographer having shown in juried shows and galleries in 32 US states. In 2005 he started Bear Dancer Studios to showcase his photographic artwork. Mark received a BA in Journalism with a minor in photography from Adams State College in Alamosa, CO. Mark was born in Carthage, IL and grew up all over the US. He now splits his time between Dubuque, IA where he works in the publishing industry and a family farm near Rushville, IL

Upcoming Exhibits

After 99 Exhibitions we're taking a break.

Over the next month or two we are planning to do some work on our web site and better organize and advertise our inventory of fabulous prints we have been collecting. We also want to host a few more workshops and photographer community events.

Once we regroup, for our 100th exhibit, we are planning to host our 4th Champlain Valley Photo Slam Probably in November/December.

We really appreciate all the support we have received over the last seven years and queries from eager photographers about future exhibitions.

Stay tuned!
