Landscape photography is the supreme test of the photographer. - Ansel Adams
Who better than Ansel Adams to introduce a call for submissions for a landscape exhibition? Admittedly calling on Adams is setting the bar quite high, but almost all photographers make land-scape photos and all can make a good landscape image with enough practice. The landscape is all around us, so there’s no shortage of subject matter.

In Le Paysage we’re looking for your unique and creative vision of the world. You don’t have to produce photos worthy of Ansel Adams; in fact, the key to the creative photography we seek is depicting the world with your own personal vision, not copying a master’s take on it. Let’s see what your vision produces.
Juror's Statement: Thank you all for allowing me the privilege to judge your magnificent works. It has been an amazing adventure but also a difficult process with 857 images from 133 photographers to choose from! Thanks to you, I was transported all over the world and discovered once again how beautiful and awe inspiring the Earth can be. I am confident that the upcoming exhibition at the Darkroom Gallery will be a huge success and hopeful that these glorious images of our planet will influence each and everyone of us to protect it and to not take it for granted. -Sandrine Hermand Grisel |

Juror: Sandrine Hermand-Grisel Born and raised in Paris France, Sandrine Hermand-Grisel fell in love with photography at an early age but it was only after obtaining a degree in International Law that she decided to dedicate her life to her real passion. Influenced by her late mother's sculptures and her husbands paintings and films, she worked on several personal projects before her series Nocturnes was recognized in 2005 by Harry Gruyaert, Bertrand Despres and John Batho for the Prix Kodak de la Critique Photographique. In the footsteps of her grand father who was a filmmaker in the US Army during WWII, she moved with her family to the United States in 2006 and began experimenting landscape photography with her series Somewhere and On the road. At present, she’s working on a new series of landscapes called "Sea Sketches". Some of her earlier work can be seen at her website, www.hermandgrisel.com. Sandrine Hernand-Grisel is also the founder and editor of All About Photo (www.all-about-photo.com), an encyclopedic website devoted to promoting photographic resources such as galleries, exhibitions, museums, schools and institutes, and many other contacts useful to photographers. All About Photo also, and perhaps most importantly, seeks out and promotes promising photographic talent. |
