The Darkroom Gallery Difference

Wedding photography can tell a story. It may be the bread and butter for many photographers but it can still offer creative opportunities. We want images that go beyond the standard posed shots and artistically capture those special moments that only an attentive photographer sees and can capture. Those shots that tell the unique story of that particular wedding.  Show us your best wedding shots that tell a wedding story.

Cliff Mautner’s career in professional photography spans 28 years. After 15 years and 6000 assignments as a photojournalist with the Philadelphia Inquirer, and working for an eclectic array of commercial clientele ranging from Comcast to Subaru, Cliff launched his wedding photography career. After 750 weddings, he hasn’t looked back.

Cliff was named one of the top ten wedding photographers in the world by American PHOTO magazine. He won the 2009 WPPI Grand Award for photojournalism, and he's the global wedding photography spokesperson for Nikon and Nikkor. He’s been recognized by WPPI as “one of the top photographers and educators in the world” and has shared his concepts and ideas across the country speaking for Nikon, Photoplus, WPPI, PPA, Digital Wedding Forum, and other photographic organizations. He’s perhaps best known for his ability create quality images in some of the most difficult lighting conditions encountered. Rangefinder magazine describes him as having “a freshness and imagination that is new and important” and is the founder of the highly successful "Lighting and Skillset Bootcamp.

The Darkroom Gallery Difference

Commercial and still life images are certainly included in this theme but is certainly not limited to those subjects. Make us see the beauty, taste the flavor, smell the aroma and feel the texture though your work.

Juror's Statement

I created a mental checklist that the images needed to go through. There was the basic photographic elements to consider (sharpness, use of DOF, tonal range, contrast, exposure, framing and edges. Composition was moved to the design portion of the critique. That continued the framing theme to review balance and placement within the frame. Of course the image needed to fit the theme.
