Exhibitor History

I create photographs that study forms and textures across traditional or common-sense boundaries, such as human-vegetable; heavy-light; stationary-moving; past-present, opaque-reflective. Many of my photographs pay close, sometimes macroscopic attention to their subject, but abstract the subject from its ordinary or original contexts. They may ask “Where is this object?”, “When and how were these things arranged this way?”, “How large, or small, is this tableau?” or “Does this thing still exist?” My best photographs question whether photographs are expressions of the artist or factual, impersonal records of objective facts. I shoot film and create individual prints by hand using traditional darkroom techniques.
